Horsham Churches Together (HCT) is linked to over thirty churches and congregations in the north of Horsham District. Churches in Horsham have a long tradition of coming together, not only for prayer and worship, but also to work together on projects which benefit our local communities.
The opening paragraph of our Constitution says:
There are many different Christian churches and denominations but all have the same basic calling: to worship God, to share the good news about Jesus Christ and to work for the good of all people.
Throughout the year, HCT organises events including the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, an open air Good Friday service, Carols in the Carfax and regular Prayer & Worship events.
Through our member churches, HCT also has effective working partnerships with local charities and organisations who serve residents in the towns and villages of Horsham District. HCT has also been involved in the start up of some key community projects in our area, including Horsham Matters, which retained strong links with HCT after becoming an independent charity, delivering practical support to those in need in our communities and serving as a strategic partner in district wide initiatives.
The Horsham Churches Together Forum helps to set the direction and activities of the organisation. Each member church is invited to send representatives to the Forum – the senior church leader and two members of the congregation. The Forum meets quarterly, providing opportunities for sharing the good work that is happening across the churches, discussion of about upcoming events, and uplifting everything before the Lord in prayer.
HCT also have an Executive team, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of Horsham Churches Together. The Moderator, Deputy Moderator and Treasurer are appointed by the Forum, and are supported in the everyday activities by a part-time employed Development Co-ordinator and part-time employed Administrator.
Each member Church pays an annual membership fee based on congregation size, which provides for the payment of staff and delivery of key activities.
HCT is part of the ecumenical movement to encouraging collaboration and unity between churches and we have links with Churches Together in England and Churches together in Britain and Ireland.
