Following on from the Global Week of Prayer at the start of September, the 2025 National Week of Prayer takes place from 6th – 14th September, with individuals, churches and organisations across the UK praying lives to be transformed by Jesus, as a spiritual awakening continues across the nations. Whoever you are, wherever you are and wherever your influence, National Week of Prayer is an opportunity to pray for each other, our leaders, our nation and the nations in this country. Join the national Digital Prayer Room at either 7am or 7pm every day, uniting with others to pray for different spheres of influence. You can also follow the week with their daily prayer guide and share your prayers on the Horsham Virtual Prayer Room.
Prayer Guide
Here’s the Prayer Guide we’ll be using for the Horsham Virtual Prayer Room.
Day 1 – Sat 6 Sept – Family & Persecuted Church
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
Today we pray for families – the place where love, faith and character are nurtured – and for our brothers and sisters worldwide who suffer for following Christ. May God’s love heal brokenness, restore relationships, and strengthen those standing firm under persecution.
Lord, build households of faith across our land. Comfort the persecuted church and make us one family in Christ.
Day 2 – Sun 7 Sept – Education
“Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” (Deut. 4:9)
Today we pray for our schools, colleges and universities – places shaping minds and hearts. May truth, wisdom and creativity flourish. May teachers be encouraged, and students discover their God-given potential.
Lord, bless all who teach and learn. Let truth guide our education and wisdom shape our future.
Day 3 – Mon 8 Sept – Third Sector (Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise)
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” (Matt. 25:40)
We thank God for charities, volunteers and community groups serving quietly and faithfully. Today we pray for their work to be resourced, for compassion to overflow, and for weary helpers to be renewed.
Lord, strengthen those who serve. Multiply resources and let your love be made visible through acts of kindness.
Day 4 – Tues 9 Sept – Business
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” (Prov. 16:3)
We pray for workplaces and businesses in Horsham and across the UK – for honesty, creativity and a culture of service. May God raise up business leaders who value people as much as profit.
Lord, inspire fresh ideas, guide ethical decisions, and bring lasting good through our work.
Day 5 – Wed 10 Sept – Capital
“Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.” (Eccl. 11:1)
Today we pray about money and resources – that wealth would be used wisely, shared justly, and invested for good. May generosity flow, and may financial blessing build communities, not just individuals.
Lord, teach us to steward all we have with open hands and pure motives.
Day 6 – Thurs 11 Sept – Government
“Pray for kings and all in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives.” (1 Tim. 2:2)
We pray for our leaders – local and national – to govern with wisdom, humility and justice. May integrity guide decisions, peace prevail, and God’s purposes be fulfilled through those in authority.
Lord, bless our leaders with courage, truth and compassion.
Day 7 – Fri 12 Sept – Law
“Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
Today we lift up our courts and legal system. May justice be fair, corruption be exposed, and truth prevail. We long for a society where laws restore, protect and bring hope.
Lord, establish justice in our land and let mercy triumph over judgment.
Day 8 – Sat 13 Sept – Media, Arts, Entertainment & Sport
“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think about such things.” (Phil. 4:8)
We pray for creativity and culture-makers – journalists, artists, musicians, athletes. May truth, beauty and goodness shine through their work, pointing people towards hope in Christ.
Lord, anoint voices in media and the arts to inspire, uplift and glorify you.
Day 9 – Sun 14 Sept – Health & Social Care
“The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from illness.” (Psalm 41:3)
We pray for doctors, nurses, carers and all who work in health and social care. May they serve with compassion and strength. We ask for breakthrough in mental health and healing across our nation.
Lord, bring healing, renewal and compassion into every place of care.
Day 10 – Woven Throughout the Week – Religion (The Church)
“That all of them may be one, Father… so that the world may believe.” (John 17:21)
At the heart of this week is prayer for the Church – that we would be united, humble and full of love. May our witness be strong, our service generous, and our worship wholehearted.
Lord, make your Church one, that the world may see Christ through us.
