Weekly Update for 20th May 2026
As we approach Pentecost weekend we continue to hold onto this year’s theme from Thy Kingdom Come: “God with Us”. We don’t wait in uncertainty, but in hope – celebrating that through the Holy Spirit, God is present, active, and at work among us even now. On Saturday The Jesus March will be taking place in London, and on Sunday, churches throughout the world will be celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
News this week includes details of a new outreach initiative Faith, Hope & Love @ Lunch involving a warm, welcoming simple, freshly cooked Pakistani or Indian meal and a new ecumenical resource helping churches respond thoughtfully to Christian nationalism through Bible studies on discipleship, discernment, and God’s Kingdom.
New in our What’s On Guide this week, we have details of the next Sussex Green Hub, another Horsham Matters’ bargain yard sale and the Trinity Church Players summer Disney-themed concert. Discover all this and more at www.horshamct.org.uk.

Prayer Focus
Pentecost Sunday
As we approach Pentecost, we continue to hold onto this year’s theme from Thy Kingdom Come: “God with Us”. We don’t wait in uncertainty, but in hope – celebrating that through the Holy Spirit, God is present, active, and at work among us even now. This week, we lean into that promise with joy, expecting to see his life and power at work in our community.
- Give thanks for the gift of the Holy Spirit – God with us – and pray for a fresh filling, that we might know his presence more deeply in our daily lives.
- Pray that we, as churches across Horsham and the surrounding villages, would be renewed in confidence and courage – ready to step out, speak of Jesus, and reflect his love in the power of the Spirit.
- Pray for our wider community, that many would encounter God with us – through unexpected moments of grace, answered prayer, and the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit at work among us.
