This week, we celebrate Pentecost – the day the Holy Spirit was poured out on the first believers, and the Church was born.
Acts 2 tells us how the disciples, once afraid and hiding, were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak, preach and praise with boldness and joy. People from every nation heard the good news in their own language, and thousands were added to their number that day. That same Spirit is still at work today – in Horsham, in our churches, in our homes and in our hearts. The Spirit empowers us, unites us, and sends us out to share God’s love with the world. So we pray:
Come, Holy Spirit – fill us again.
Fill our hearts as you filled the disciples on that first Pentecost. Turn our fear into courage, our silence into praise, and our weakness into bold witness.
May your presence unite us across churches, languages and cultures – just as you did on that day in Jerusalem. Breathe life into your Church again, and send us out with the good news of Jesus.
We welcome you, Holy Spirit. Come and move in Horsham, in our churches, in our homes, and in our lives.
Amen.
