Loneliness affects more people than we might realise.
It can come during seasons of change – after a loss, after moving house, or during times when we feel out of step with those around us. It touches the young and the old, the busy and the quiet, those living alone and those who seem surrounded by others.
This week, we lift up those who are feeling isolated and alone. So let us pray: for friendship, for kindness, for new connections. And let us be part of the answer to those prayers too – by noticing those around us, by reaching out, by creating spaces where people are known and loved.
Lord God,
We bring before you those in our town who feel alone –
Those who are grieving,
Those who are quietly struggling,
Those who feel forgotten.Draw near to them in your kindness.
Stir our hearts to notice, to reach out, to make space.
Help our churches and homes to be places of welcome and belonging. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Churches across Horsham open their doors during the week with welcoming cafés and lunch clubs. These are places where you can come as you are – to talk, to listen, to be with others without pressure. Discover more at horshamct.org.uk/cafe.
