Horsham Matters
Horsham Matters aims to demonstrate love of our neighbour by relieving hardship through the provision of essential services (food, fuel and shelter) in order to make a positive, long-lasting impact on people’s lives. The charity was started in 2006 by Horsham Churches Together, and run the Horsham District foodbank and provide practical crisis support, budgeting advice and personal counselling. Horsham Mattes also run the ‘Love it Again‘ store in West Street, Horsham, helping to raise funds to combat poverty and enhance community well-being in Horsham District.
Horsham Debt Advice Service
Horsham Debt Advice Service seeks to come alongside people who are facing financial difficulties. They provide practical support and advice using trained advisors who will listen with understanding, compassion and in complete confidence. This service is provided free of charge to clients. Call 01403 258040 for an appointment. The charity was founded in 2002 by the church community in Horsham, and over the years have helped over 2500 individuals.
Christians Against Poverty
Christians Against Poverty, or CAP for short, is a nationwide charity that helps people weighed down by debt, though money advice and debt solutions. The local CAP Centre is run by Lifespring at the Drill Hall in Horsham, offers a listening ear in the privacy of your own home and provide practical solutions to your debts. Call CAP on 0800 328 0006 to get started.
Hope In
The Hope In is a community drop-in run by the Horsham Salvation Army for individuals or families who need to receive practical help and support and a listening ear, especially in the area of food poverty. They are open from 6pm on Thursday evenings, offering a hot meal and support from their foodbank.
Horsham Community Fridge
The Horsham Community Fridge rescues excess food from local supermarkets and businesses, and makes it available to everyone in the community who can use it. Come along and fill up your bag with fruit, veg, bread and fresh items – all for free.
During the week, the community fridge is open 10am-11am on Tuesdays and 1pm-2pm on Thursdays at Cornerstone Methodist Church, London Road.
On Saturdays, it’s open 10am-11am at various locations throughout the month:
1st Saturday – Cornerstone Methodist St Andrews, Roffey
2nd Saturday – Holy Innocents Church, Southwater
3rd Saturdays – St John the Evangelist, Horsham
4th Saturdays – Sussex Green Hub, Horsham United Reformed Church
5th Saturdays – St Marks, Holbrook
